Facial Point Detection when obtaining your license photo

Today I visited the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles to renew my drivers license and was informed of a new procedure with regards to the taking of the photo placed on the license. It appears that Indiana decided to now use computerized Facial Point Detection when obtaining your license photo.
edfaThey claim that this is used to combat fraud in obtaining a drivers license but, I submit that is is just another case of Gestapo government tactics. Law enforcement will now be able to use this to attempt to identify people who have committed a crime or even a traffic violation. They would just run a photo against the Indiana drivers license database and voila your caught.
How long will it be until we have to give a full set of fingerprints or DNA to get a license?

Bush’s Big F@*k You

Well folks we got it, the BIG F@*k You! from President Bush. What better way to leave office than to screw main street and take care of his friends in the auto industry.
There is absolutely no reason the Big 3 auto makers could not file chapter 11 bankruptcy, like every other reputable company in America. But when you have a corrupt union such as the UAW and a corrupt administration what more could you expect.

Some People are just “PLAIN STUPID”

While looking around on CraigsList this evening, I came across an advertisement that although was probably in the best interest of giving, was the most stupid ad I think I have read.
I don’t know if anyone would be interested, but we were given the carcass, legs and other trimmings from the Thanksgiving turkey after our family dinner (who eat only the white meat) and it has been in the freezer until today. I got it out and cooked it down to get some broth to make noodles, but there is a ton of good meat left and I just don’t think we are going to use it all. Is there anyone who might want to take this and pick the rest of the meat from the bones and make their own delicious meal out of it? Please call me if you would like to come and get it. Reply with a phone number and I will call you right back.
Now my reasons for my opinion:
- If you read the last 2 lines it asks to please call the advertiser (with no number), and it then asks to reply with a number for a call back.
- I believe that if a person is poor enough that he/she would need a free meal of scraps then they probably do not own a computer with internet access. But I could be wrong?
I do not mean to offend anyone or in anyway insult the needy but I just thought this ad was just “Plain Stupid”.

The Dumbest Criminal of 2008

I believe that we have found the dumbest criminal for 2008. The article below appeared on theindychannel.com today.
MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie woman was arrested after asking a state trooper whether she could smoke — and then trying to light up a marijuana joint, police said.
Honesty Knight, 32, was a passenger in a vehicle that Trooper Eric Perkins pulled over for a traffic violation early Friday. While the trooper was talking to the driver, Knight obtained the trooper’s permission to smoke.Perkins then asked to see the cigarette, which contained marijuana, not tobacco, police said. Knight faces a preliminary charge of possession of paraphernalia. She was released from jail on bond, but couldn’t be located for comment because no home telephone number was listed in her name.

General Motors “Job Bank”

Today I was watching Neil Cavuto on Fox News interviewing a past employee of GM and what I heard was just unbelievable!!
The topic was the Big 3 automakers “Job Bank” program, where laid-off employees are paid $31 per hour to lay around and do nothing. Actually they have 3 choices of what to do to earn their $31 an hour, they can go to school (also paid for) or they can do community service work or go to the mall and sit for 8 hours.
The interview on Cavuto was with a man who was in the “Job Bank” for 8 years. For the first 5 years he went to college and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Construction Engineering (GREAT CHOICE!) and for the last 3 years he sat at a mall, all the while earning $65,000 per year plus health care benefits. After the 8th year he decided to retire from GM.
The “Job Bank” program first began in 1984 and is currently costing the automakers $800 million dollars per year. There are currently more workers in the “Job Bank” program than there are retirees from the automakers.
The workers who are laid-off should have to go through the same process as every other laid-off worker in the US, apply for unemployment and look for a job!
It should also be noted that in the bailout proposal that the automakers have submitted to Congress, there are to be no concessions from the UAW and the “Job Bank” program will continue.
WE NEED TO CALL OR WRITE OUR CONGRESSMEN!

Auto Bailout

This guy just does not get it!
The unions are the major reason for the demise of the auto industry and I believe that their big pay for little work mentality needs to go.
You have people with little or no education earning $70,000+ as an auto worker, paying union dues to a corrupt union, when a poor teacher with a Bachelors Degree earns about $35,000. Where is the logic?
Break the union contracts, move the plants and take a lesson from the Japanese!!
WASHINGTON – The head of the United Auto Workers made a public plea Sunday for government help for U.S. carmakers as the Big Three put the final touches on stabilization plans to submit to Congress.
“We cannot afford to see these companies fail,” said Ron Gettelfinger, the UAW chief, calling on Congress to approve the aid during a special session the week of Dec. 8.

Deer jump to their deaths

I guess they received notice that their applications for Federal Bail-out Monies were denied… too bad they didn’t work in the auto or financial industries…

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A semi truck driver said he witnessed five deer jump to their deaths off an I-69 overpass. He said one of them actually landed on his windshield.
The driver, Kenneth Washburn, was driving northbound on the interstate when he saw the deer jump off the overpass at U.S. 224. Washburn told police the deer made the jump one by one and the fall killed each of them.
The deer that hit Washburn’s cab actually busted out the windshield before falling onto the interstate.
Washburn is okay. He just had some minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Holiday stupidity

I hate Christmas. I loathe and despise this time of year. Why? Well, there are many reasons, but perhaps the reason at the top of my list is that, like alcohol consumption, the holiday season provides people an excuse to act like the idiots they normally are and try to conceal.
Today’s reports of deaths and injuries from “black Friday shopping” is the case in point. These mindless zombies are so consumed with consumerism that they trample a man to death. Saving $5 is more important than a human life. Is it really any wonder why most of the world hates the U.S. as much as I hate the holidays?
