Guns in the Classroom
By The Pundit | August 15, 2008
It seems that the education system in, at least one Texas School District is taking the cowboy culture to the extreme!
HOUSTON (Reuters) – A Texas school district will let teachers bring guns to class this fall, the district’s superintendent said on Friday, in what experts said appeared to be a first in the United States.
I would think that if a school is so dangerous that the teachers have to protect themselves with a firearm, they may want to consider closing the school and finding the teachers other positions.
To have individuals with very little or no training on the use of deadly force, carrying a firearm to protect themselves from children, is just asking for a disaster! Law enforcement officers that are very well trained in the use of force still make mistakes. How in the world is a teacher going to be able to make those life and death decisions with no formal training and constant refreshers?
Or, are they part of that naive group that believes showing a gun is a deterrent?
